About Me

My photo
Perth, Perthshire, United Kingdom
Welcome to my little corner of the World! I live in Perthshire Scotland with my wonderful husband Eric. We have a daughter, Corinne who is married to Rob and lives in New Zealand, with their boys Harrison and twins Hadley and Dylan. Marie who has a wee boy Jackson, and Greg and his wife Kim, their wee girl Freya, even smaller baby boy Freddie and dog Buddy. I am happy when I am in my craft room, and I love making cards for Charity and also for commissions. I love scrapbooking, and I get my inspiration from my Grandchildren. They are the subjects in most of my Scrapbooking layouts. I have just started to do Mixed Media work, and I am loving it!! I have just started a craft group at our local Church centre, aptly called Saints and Scissors Club! If you can't find me, I will be in my craft room, buried under tons of stash lol!

Whisper a Wish to a Butterfly

Here is my Design Team Layout for Issue 88 of Scrapbook Magazine.  The theme was "Mum".

I am creating a family scrapbook so I was quite happy to scrap these photographs of my Mum.  I think my Mum was really beautiful when she was a young woman, and she bore a resemblance to our present Queen I think.

She worked as a nurse, and the 2nd photo was taken on the steps of Westgreen Hospital where she worked and also met my Dad.

Mum is no longer with me, and I seem to miss her more now, than I did when she first passed away.  There is a saying that if a Butterfly flies close to you, it is someone in heaven come for a wee visit.  When I saw this sentiment card I thought it was perfect, as I would love a Butterfly to take a message back to my Mum to let her know that I miss her and I wish she was here to see the Great Grandchildren which were born after she passed away.

I used a lot of flowers on this layout, as Mum loved flowers and always pottered away in her garden.

The papers, sentiment and cameo were from Bo Bunny
Flowers from Wild Orchid.
Butterflies are from Prima

I hope you like this layout, it is a very special one to me.
Take care and I would love to see you come back for a visit soon!

Scrapbook Magazine Issue 80

Issue 80 of Scrapbook Magazine is out now,and I have 2 layouts featured there.

The first one, is an invitation for you to Scraplift my layout, and here it is

Readers of the magazine are asked to Scraplift (copy) my layout and send them in for publication, so it will be really good to see what they do.  This shows Freya in 2 of her studio shots which were done when she was just a few weeks old. All papers and lettering were from My Mind's Eye, Ruby range.  Crystal swirl is from Prima.

This 2nd layout is for a feature on Weddings.  The photo shows my elder Sister Sheena and he husband Harry on their wedding day.  Sadly, Harry passed away recently,  so it was nice to do this layout in his memory. and it will go in my Family Scrapbook.
Materials used were
Cardstock - Best Creations Inc - Basic Glitter Paper
Velvet Ribbon - My Mind's Eye Lost & Found - Portobello Road Buddies Trim
Flowers - Wild Orchid Crafts
Pearls  - The Hobby House
Chipboard Title - Making Memories - Wedding
Everything else is from my stash. Hoping to get some crafting done tomorrow, so I may be back really soon!!

Scrapbook Magazine Design Team

I received wonderful news recently, when I was asked to be on the design team for Scrapbook Magazine.  I was so excited and I squealed and squealed and couldn't wait to tell my family!!  I had to submit 4 layouts for their "Meet the Design Team" feature and here are the layouts I selected for them. I have had to wait until the Magazine was out in the shops before I could share my news with you.
.

This one shows Dylan helping his Daddy to mow the lawn.I love the way that he really looks as if he is working hard, and his dirty wee face is so cute!
This layout shows Jackson in his baby bath, before he moved to the big bath. He loves to splash and you can see the water he is splashing up in the air, and he is not the slightest bit afraid.

This layout shows my husband Eric, when we were on holiday in Egypt. He got speaking to one of the locals, and he offered to take him out into the desert on a quad bike. He had an amazing time, and they we right off the beaten track away from all the touristy stuff.
Lastly, this layout shows my Mum in photos taken around 60 years ago  I thought it unusual that 2 of them were taken when my mum was walking down a busy street.  In the 2nd one, my Granny is in the background. unfortunately, I don't know where they were taken, which is a shame, as it would have been lovely to put that information on the layout.

Well, there you go, my exciting news.  I can't wait to see what they have lined up for me and will share my layouts with you once they have appeared in the magazine.

Here are the 3 layouts which were published in Scrapbook Magazine.  The layout above shows Harrison, Hadley and Dylan sitting in our suitcases when we were packing to come home.  I was trying to smuggle them back to Scotland! LOL!!!
This layout shows Dylan, when his Mum spiked up his hair when she was putting his sun cream on.  The two layouts above were made using Fancy Pants - About a Boy papers and die-cut embellishments.  I put the wings at either side of the middle photo of Dylan, as i thought he looked so Angelic - which is so not like him! LOL!!!

Finally, this photo shows my Grandad, My Mum and my big sisters, Sheena and Moira and was taken 10 years before I was born! I made the paper flowers by drawing a spiral on  the reverse of the paper, and cutting it out using deckle-edge scissors.  I then coiled them into a flower shape and added some leaves cut out of the reverse of the paper.  The papers I used ae My Mind's Eye - Lost & Found.
Thanks for stopping by!

Woo-Hoo! Good News!!!  I have been published in Scrapbook Magazine yet again!!  Issue 58, in the Reader's Gallery where the theme was Mums!!  I sent in this layout which shows my Mum when she was around 13 years old.  She is wearing her Sunday best as you can see, complete with beautiful handbag!!  The photo itself is a bit dark, but I think you can still see it okay here.  Must go and prepare dinner.  bye for now!!!!

Here I am again - only two more days left to work and then I become a Lady of Leisure. No excuse then if I don't do any blogging!!!!! I have at long last managed to buy some Hanglar & Stanglar Stamps!! So excited. Just need to get them stamped and coloured now!

This is a layout I have made using a sketch from Scrapbook Magazine issue 50. I also used the free papers which came with the magazine. The photo shows my Mum holding my big brother Ian, and my big sister Moira is looking on shyly in the background. This was taken around 1948 - about 9 years before I came into the world! I was definitely an afterthought! Look at my Mum's stockings rolled down to her ankles!!! Shocking!!! LOL!!!!!!! Hope you like it and thanks for looking!
