About Me

My photo
Perth, Perthshire, United Kingdom
Welcome to my little corner of the World! I live in Perthshire Scotland with my wonderful husband Eric. We have a daughter, Corinne who is married to Rob and lives in New Zealand, with their boys Harrison and twins Hadley and Dylan. Marie who has a wee boy Jackson, and Greg and his wife Kim, their wee girl Freya, even smaller baby boy Freddie and dog Buddy. I am happy when I am in my craft room, and I love making cards for Charity and also for commissions. I love scrapbooking, and I get my inspiration from my Grandchildren. They are the subjects in most of my Scrapbooking layouts. I have just started to do Mixed Media work, and I am loving it!! I have just started a craft group at our local Church centre, aptly called Saints and Scissors Club! If you can't find me, I will be in my craft room, buried under tons of stash lol!

Woo-Hoo! Good News!!!  I have been published in Scrapbook Magazine yet again!!  Issue 58, in the Reader's Gallery where the theme was Mums!!  I sent in this layout which shows my Mum when she was around 13 years old.  She is wearing her Sunday best as you can see, complete with beautiful handbag!!  The photo itself is a bit dark, but I think you can still see it okay here.  Must go and prepare dinner.  bye for now!!!!

Where on earth does the time go??  It's Wednesday again, and I  can't believe another week has passed so quickly!!   It's realease day once more at Let's Scrap and here is the sketch we had to use.
I used photos of the twins (surprise surprise!!) as Corinne had taken a lot of close ups of them, and I thought this sketch was perfect to showcase them.  Eric was confused though, and asked me "Why have you got 6 of Dylan and only 2 of Hadley?"  There are 4 of each of them so I think that proves they are more alike than we think!!

I managed to get another couple of cards made with the Humphrey the Elephant c.d. The one below shows Humphrey's sister, getting ready for bed on Christmas Eve.
This one shows Humphrey playing snowballs with his Daddy!
This card is from a digi stamp fro Mo Manning and it is called Timmy's stocking - I LOVE IT!!!!  I will be making a lot more cards with this image!!  This will probably find it's way over to New Zealand, in some form or another.

Now for the sponsored swim update!!  I managed to swim 70 lengths again today and it took me 65 minutes.  It was not as enjoyable today, as there were too many people in the pool and there was a lot of kicking of other people going on!!  It amazes me that some people cannot judge how wide they are and they take off into a space which is not big enough for them and they end up giving you a kick in the passing - so annoying!!!!!!!  No wonder I get bruised!!  It makes me wonder what they are like in their cars - I bet they bash a lot of wing mirrors!! LOL!!!!!  Well, must go and get some knitting done.  I  made a mistake on the wee cardy I am knitting and I will have to take back about 20 rows - :o(

I have been so busy, I did not manage to get my sponsored swim update on here last week
.  On Friday, I managed to do 64 lengths in 60 minutes.  Today, I managed 70 !!!  Woo Hoo!!!  and, believe it or not, I did them in 60 minutes!  The pool was lovely and quiet so no pool rage, and no struggling to get a space - bliss!!  Back again on Wednesday, and I will try to do 70 again.

We received a new order from Crafter's Companion and included were the new Humphrey's Corner stamps and discs.  These are some cards I have made using the images from the disc.  The artwork is really lovely and they show Humphrey's Family getting ready for Christmas.
What I really like about this is that you can print out inserts to match your cards and even envelopes if you want to go one stage further.
There are lots of images on 2 discs and I will have lots of fun making a lot more cards!
There is decoupage as well as toppers and papers and borders.  Everything you could need in fact - as long as you have a printer that is!  LOL!!!
Marie and I managed to get all Catriona's invites done, all 144 of them!!!!  I have some more time to myself this week, so must go and get started on another layout!!  Thanks for stopping by!!

Wednesday, 21 September 2011

Well, it is Wednesday once more so it is Let's Scrap Sketch Reveal  day.  The sketch this week is based on a card so it didn't take nearly as long as a layout to do.

Let's Scrap 09-21-11

I thought I would make a start to my Christmas Cards so this is Number 1!!!!!  It's a very simple card, but I like it.

Mo's DP2 Challenge #100

This card below is being entered into Mo's Digital Challenge where the theme is Celebration.  What better to celebrate than the birth of a new baby, so I have made this for my friend's son and his wife who have just had a wee baby girl and they have named her Eva.  I love this image and will definitely be colouring up another one to make another card like this!!

Now - on to the important stuff.  October is Lupus Awareness Month and I do a fundraiser every 2nd year.  Normally, we do the "Extra mile walk"  which is a 3 mile walk, and then an extra mile!!  I have always had to rely on other people to do the walk for me, as I can't walk that far, so this year, I thought I would do something different, and I will be doing a sponsored swim.  I will do a mile a day for 4 days, making the 4 mile total required.  To do a mile at my pool, you need to do 80 lengths and I can normally manage 60 on a good day, therefore I need to get some training done.  I also only normally go 3 times a week, so I am adding on another day as well!! So from normally doing 180 lengths over 3 days, I am now doing 320 lenghts over 4 days.  (Am I mad, I ask myself!!??) I have been poorly for the last 2 weeks so didn't manage any swimming at all, but managed back today and I did 50 lengths in 50 minutes, which I thought wasn't too bad as I didn't want to push it.  Next swim will be on Friday and I will give you an update then!!  Watch this space!! LOL!!!

This is the sketch for Let's Scrap Month long Challenge. (September) and I have actually finished it with weeks to spare - Woo!!  I really liked this sketch and will probably use it again on another layout. The pictures were taken in New Zealand, on our 2nd visit when we went up to Coramandel.  We visited The Waterworks which is a marvellous place.  The whole site is either solar or water powered and they don't use eletricity at all.  There were games throughout the whole park where you could squirt water at each other, or ride a bike and it squirts out water and lots more.  Everything was made out of rubbish, with old ladles and bike wheels, old pots and pans, colanders everything you could think of being recycled.  The boys loved the water channel (in the photo above)  where they put little wooden boats into the water, and they went round a whole "canal" system and came back to them again.  They would have stayed there the whole afternoon I think!!  Overall though, I think the adults had more fun than the kids!!!  Thanks for stopping by!!

Let's Scrap 9-14-11

It's Wednesday, so it's Sketch reveal time at Let's Scrap!  I decided just to use the right hand side of the sketch this week, instead of making a double page layout.  Eric took these photos last November when we had the first snow of the winter.  It looks so pretty, but it was bloomin' cold!!!! I am working on the September month long challenge now, so hopefully have that on here real soon!   I also made another card using the sketch from last week at Mo's challenge as I think the images are so cute!!  Lots more cards to make so must go and do some crafting! Thanks for having a look!!

It's Wednesday

It's Wednesday, so that means the new sketch is revealed at Let's Scrap letsscrap.ning.com
This layout shows Eric and I on our first trip to Zante.  There were many tours on offer, but we hired a quad bike and set off exploring on our own.  We had a brilliant time and felt like a couple of kids on this bike!!  Eric grinned from ear to ear every time he climbed on board!! We christened the quad bike Tiger because of it's colour and we managed to see round round the island in two days!!

I have also made a card for Bella and Bronte's Challenge at Mo's Digital Pencil http://mosdigitalchallenge.blogspot.com/ and this time I am on time!!! Woo Hoo!!! I decided I would start to make Christmas Cards. so I used this little cutie here.  I used papers by Kaisercraft papers which were free from a magazine (trying to use up my stash) and the pink flower was actually off a hair slide.  I used my cuttlebug to cut leaves and swirls from green mirra card and added a silver bow using the bow maker which Eric made for me!! (Clever chap when he puts his mind to it!!!)

Lastly, I just HAD to show you the wee bootees I have been knitting for Marie's baby.  They are tiny, which you can't actually see in the photo, and , as we still don't know what she is having, I had to knit a boy and a girl's pair!!  i think some more may appear in different colours, but believe it or not, they are tiny, but they were really difficult to make!!  Prefer cardigans - so much easier to understand the patterns!!  Must go and get more crafting done! Thanks for stopping by!! xx

This is the new sketch for the let's Scrap design team.  Numbered 8-31-11.  The layout shows some my direct Family Tree on my Mother's side.  It starts with my Great Great Grandparents right through to my girls.  My sister Moira has done a wonderful job tracing our family tree, and I got the photos and the information from her.  She has discovered that President William Mackinley of America was one of our ancestors!!  I used K & Co papers (Charlotte Range) and bits and bobs from my stash.  I  will carry on and make more layouts like this, and then the girls will know where they come from!!  I am trying to get photos from my husband's famly in order to do the same for my Stepson, but I am struggling to get any photos.  It is such a shame, but we don't have that problem now, do we?  It is so easy to take photos and videos with our cameras and mobile phones!! No excuse for scrapbookers fo the future!!   Must go have Wedding invitations to make and I have still to upload a card for the Bella and Bronte Challenge.  I wonder what I would do if I was still working??  LOL!!!

A day late with my posting this week, I've been sooooooooooooooo busy.  Making Wedding invitations, processing orders for the shop and completing this layout for Let's Scrap!

This is sketch no. 8-31-11 for the  Let's Scrap design Team.  This layout shows my family on my Mum's side starting with my Great-Great Grandparents right through to the girls.  My sister Moira, has done a fabulous job tracing our family tree and I got the old photos and details from her.  She has found out that President William MacKinlay of America is one of our ancestors!! Woo-Hoo!!  I have more photos which I will scrap and make it into an album so as  Corinne and Marie know where they came from!!  I've been trying to get photos from my husband's family to make something similar for my stepson, but I am struggling to get photos.  It's not a problem we have now is it?  We can take lots of photos and delete the bad ones, even with our mobile phones!!  Must go now and crack on with the wedding invitations!!  Thanks for stopping by!!
