About Me

My photo
Perth, Perthshire, United Kingdom
Welcome to my little corner of the World! I live in Perthshire Scotland with my wonderful husband Eric. We have a daughter, Corinne who is married to Rob and lives in New Zealand, with their boys Harrison and twins Hadley and Dylan. Marie who has a wee boy Jackson, and Greg and his wife Kim, their wee girl Freya, even smaller baby boy Freddie and dog Buddy. I am happy when I am in my craft room, and I love making cards for Charity and also for commissions. I love scrapbooking, and I get my inspiration from my Grandchildren. They are the subjects in most of my Scrapbooking layouts. I have just started to do Mixed Media work, and I am loving it!! I have just started a craft group at our local Church centre, aptly called Saints and Scissors Club! If you can't find me, I will be in my craft room, buried under tons of stash lol!

Off to School

Hello again!
Shame on me, I've been neglecting my blog again!!
I do have an excuse of sorts though, or excuses to be correct!
I hurt by back again, a trapped nerve to be precise. i was in agony and couldn't lie down to sleep, so I had to sit in a chair and cat nap.  it was horrendous!  It's really frustrating when you can't even put your socks on by yourself!  I have an amazing hubby, who helps me without hesitation, and I would be lost without him.
i have also been volunteering at our new church/Community Centre.  It is an amazing building, and it is proving incredibly popular.
I have also been making Christmas Cards, for my 2 charities, for a craft stand at The Madoch Centre and also for myself!!!!!

So, at last I have found the time to be here.  this is the card I would like to show you.

I made this card to give to my Grandson, as he started school at the end of August.  this image looked so like him, i just had to use it.  I coloured his jumper red and his tie black and yellow, which are all the colours for his school.  He has been going to nursery at this school for 2 years, so he know all his little friends and we thought he would settle in fine.  For the first 2 weeks however, he became the child from hell!!  I don't know what happened to him, but thankfully it didn't last long.

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges.

Crafty Catz weekly challenge blogspot - #391 - anything goes
Cardmania challenges blogspot  #98 -  Anything goes
As you like it Challenge - Favourite and why? - Favourite this year is Christmas, as i am having lots of fun with glitter!

That's all for now, hopefully see you really soon.

Big Game

I can't believe I haven't posted on here since August!!  Shocking!!!!!!!  I have been very very busy crafting, but just haven't got round to putting anything on here.  Time is flying by, it is very scary.

I am pleased to say that I have won a prize on the  Soul Scrappers  Blog.  On this blog you say you want to enter a challenge, and you receive a little packet of embellishments, which you have to use on your layout.

The theme was sport, and one of the die-cuts said Big Game, so that became the title of my layout.
I used photos of Dylan playing rugby to showcase this title.  Both Dylan and Hadley play rugby, and they are both doing very well.

Here is my double page layout.   I won the section for Best Sport photos, but I must give
the credit for that to Corinne, who took the photos.

I  love the way that Dylan just barges in to the game, showing no fear!

This pennant or flag, was one of the things in the kit.  The rules said that it had to be decorated.

When I was in New Zealand earlier this year, I bought all sorts of stickers which I hoped to use on my layouts and cards.  The Rugby player above, and the little Kiwi below were some of the things which I bought.

This is the super prize that I won.  I will have lots of fun using these embellishments.

That's all for now, must get back to making the dozens of Christmas Cards I need to make!  Take care everyone.
Till the next time!

Absolutely Fabulous

It's taken a while, but I have managed to do another scrap layout.
I'm  happy now, as big long holiday is over, (with heaps of photos to scrap) and also our visitors have now gone home, (even more photos!!) so I can now concentrate on my Scrapbook Layouts once again.

I loved this design from Stuck Sketches and as soon as I saw it,
I knew what I was going to do with it.

When I saw all the flowers on the sketch, I just had to make a layout featuring Freya.  I turned the sketch on it's side, to make my photos fit better.

Once again, these photos are from her first photo shoot, when she was just 6 weeks old.  I love the top one where her wee legs are tucked under her wee bum!!

I used flowers and leaves from Craft Box  I have taken out a subscription for the monthly boxes, and when they arrive, and you open the box, it is so exciting, as you don't know what is inside!!

I adhered some chipboard buttons from the same range as the paper, and then placed white pearls on top of the buttons.

I also added this little cluster of chipboard and pearls in the bottom corner.  The little metal nest with pearls also came from a Craft Box.
Well, I think that is all from me at the moment, but I'll be back real soon, pinkie promise!

Materials used
Papers and Chipboard ~~~~~~ Lost & Found, Ruby Collection from My Mind's Eye
Metal nest and heart ~~~~~~ Craft Box UK

Playing Golf

Hello and thank you for popping in to see my work!
I have been busy in the garden this week, weather has been atrocious, but we got a lovely sunny day, so out I went to do some dead-heading.  I am so pleased with my lovely garden this year.  I'll put some photos on later.

So, without further ado, Here is my latest card.  I used this super wee image from Lili of the Valley.  He is called "Playing Golf"   Such a simple title! lol!!  I love the fact that his golf bag is almost as big as himself, so sweet.

I coloured him using my Promarkers and just used shades of grey and black.
I really like the effect it gives, especially on  man's card.

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges
Lil Patch of Crafty Friends   Anything goes
Creative Craft Cottage  Anything goes

That's all from me today, but, if you pay me a visit, please leave a wee comment
as I love to read them, and it's nice to know that someone stopped by for a wee look.
Stay Happy folks!

Laugh Happy Stepper

Hello, and welcome once again.  It is actually a beautiful sunny day here, which is very unusual!  It is lovely to get out in the garden and tidy up.  I still found time to do this though, so here is another card to show you.

I made this card for a card swap with a young girl called Kelsey in Australia.  The theme was friends, so I thought this image was perfect.  It is one of Mo Mannings wonderful images, and I  loved colouring it up.

This is a closer view of the image, aren't these wee girls cute?  I love the way they have their arms wrapped round each other, brilliant!

I made a stepper card, as I am trying to get away from making standard square cards all the time.
The funny thing was, the card which I received from Kelsey was a stepper card too.

I used the following to make the card

Image from Mo Manning -  Summer Sisters

Paper and chipboard embellishments from K & Co. - Poppy Seeds Design

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges.

Paper Fun

Hello again, from a rainy Perthshire.  Yes, you've guessed it, the lovely warm, sunny weather didn't last very long!  We've had rain for 4 days now, and I mean solid UN-relentless rain.  Never mind, it has to stop sometime doesn't it? LOL!!

It is time to reveal another sketch on the Let's scrap sketch blogspot

I decided to use some photographs of Freya for this one, when I looked at the flower scroll in the middle of the sketch.  It is good to do girlie layouts when scrolls and flowers are on the sketch.

These photos show her playing with shredded paper, and obviously loving it!

This is a wee close up of the journaling down the side.  Words which I think summed up her expression well. - Joy - Bliss - The Best of Times

Here is the flower scroll down the middle of the layout.  I ripped some tissue paper and attached it to replicate the paper she was playing in.

This is the embellishments at the top of the page.  I used this wooden scroll and some of the flowers from Craft Box which is a new monthly subscription club
where you get the most wonderful box full of delicious embellishments straight to your door.
It is such fun opening up the box to see what is inside!!  Why don't you have a look at their website, I'm sure you will be tempted!

Materials used
Paper Papers - Bo Bunny, Little Miss
Resin frame, green flowers, lower wooden scroll - Prima
Journal Words - K & Co
Large wooden scroll and peach flower - Craft Box
Ribbon and Title Work - from stash

Corinne's Selfie

Hello again, I'm glad to see you have stopped by!  It's time to show off a card and enter some challenges.

I was really sad to hear that Kenny K will no longer be doing digital images.  I have been a big fan for quite a few years now. I found their images to be really different, and I will really miss them.
I made a card for my eldest daughter recently, and used this image as she is very interested in photography.

I adore this image, as she is quite retro, with a throwback to the 50's, which is one of my favourite eras.  She is, however, bang up to date as she is taking a selfie!!

I kept the card quite simple, as I wanted the image to be the main focus.
I am quite sure I will use this image on more cards, as I love her so much.
I would like to enter this card in the following challenges.

Oh so very Hot

Well, here we are in July.  how quickly time is zooming past!   I had planned to do so much this year, and half the year is past and nothing ticked off my list.  So, without further ado, this is the first layout I have made this year!  Shocking isn't it?  I have missed the deadline for the challenge but never mind! lol!!

Here is the sketch I used.

I used stencils and ink to make a background, which was fun.  The photo was taken at Bowentown, Waihi Beach in New Zealand.  This place was the highlight of our big holiday I think.  It was an absolutely beautiful place, and the boys had a ball playing on the beach and in the sea.  Happy memories. In the photo, the boys had been in the sea, and came over to get something to eat.
I love the way they are just looking out to the sea.  Tired but happy.

Here is a wee close up showing the boys.

I placed little plastic domes to place over the ink splatters on the page.

I wish we had a beautiful blue sky like this, the weather was glorious while we were there.  Well, that's all for now, I'm off to sort photographs on m laptop.  They are in such a jumble.  Wish  me luck! xxx

King Owl Canvas

Hello again!  I am back on track now, and I  intend to take part in challenges and blog on a regular basis, I promise.  I have been so busy lately with family from abroad visiting for 3 weeks, and another daughter moving house.  It is nice to finally get some time to play.

I would like to show you my newest canvas.  I have named it King Owl.

Here is king Owl! I perched him on a beautiful key, and gave him a crown.

Some of the beautiful embellishments available from Craft Box, owned by Anna Hersom, a very talented and forward thinking lady!

A beautiful piece of Snipart, available from Craft Box You can receive these beautiful embellishments, and lots more besides, when you subscribe to the monthly box.  A wonderful box of treasure, and sure to make you happy!

I have made a short Tutorial, telling how I created King Owl, I hope you enjoy it.
King Owl Canvas by Rhoda

First of all I painted White Gesso over the whole canvas.
I tore strips of paper, and put some through my paper ribbler (tool which makes ordinary paper into corrugated paper)
I glued the paper onto the middle of the canvas and then ‘splodged’ 2 different Crackle Paints (Old Paper Distress Paint (green) and Dusty Concorde (Mauve)) randomly and heated them up to crackle.  (Great Fun!!) - Once that was dry, I used Decadent Wine Texture Paste and 3 different stencils on the canvas, avoiding the crackle paint sections.
Now up to this point, I had the canvas sitting horizontal, but decided to turn it to Portrait.
I then used a tree stencil with gold Metallic gilding Polish.  Now, this didn’t go according to plan, and it ended up being a round splodge on a trunk! Lol!!  I liked the look and just kept it that way.
I used another stencil with the same Gilding Polish, to make gold circles over the Old Paper Crackle Paint.
I used the same stencil with 2 different colours of Sparkle Texture Paste to cover some of the torn papers.  I used Decadent Bamboo, and also Decadent Teal.
I used Prima Opal Magic Wax in Blue Velvet, and Pentart Wax Paste in violet, to highlight some of the texture on the canvas.
I searched through my Snipart stash and found the perfect shape to cover my Gold Splodge!
Then it was time to add the pretty Craft Box stuff.  I used a silver brad to fix the top embellishment, then 2 keys below that.  I used Glossy Accents to fix everything.  I hung the heart charm from the side of the Snipart.
Now, on to King Owl! I fixed 2 little glue glitter gems in his eyes, and perched him on another key.  I found a crown charm and it fitted perfectly on his head.
I then stuck sparkly gems randomly over the canvas.
Done!

First Challenge of the Year

Hello, hello hello!!!!!!!  After my long holiday, I am back!  3 months away in New Zealand, and didn't do any crafting at all.  I had severe withdrawal symptoms!!!!  I have been really really busy since I came back, but I am now crafting for myself again!!  Woo-hoo!!!!!
The challenge at Mo's this time is Anything Goes.  Nice and simple to get me started again lol!.

I had to make cards for the Riding for The Disabled group which I support and this was one I gave to them.

This wee image is called  Out of the-Tub and you can find her in Mo's Shop Here  Out of the Tub

This image was coloured using Promarkers

I am entering her in the following challenges.
