About Me

My photo
Perth, Perthshire, United Kingdom
Welcome to my little corner of the World! I live in Perthshire Scotland with my wonderful husband Eric. We have a daughter, Corinne who is married to Rob and lives in New Zealand, with their boys Harrison and twins Hadley and Dylan. Marie who has a wee boy Jackson, and Greg and his wife Kim, their wee girl Freya, even smaller baby boy Freddie and dog Buddy. I am happy when I am in my craft room, and I love making cards for Charity and also for commissions. I love scrapbooking, and I get my inspiration from my Grandchildren. They are the subjects in most of my Scrapbooking layouts. I have just started to do Mixed Media work, and I am loving it!! I have just started a craft group at our local Church centre, aptly called Saints and Scissors Club! If you can't find me, I will be in my craft room, buried under tons of stash lol!

Veronica

Hello again, from a lovely sunny Scotland!  Yes, that's right - SUNNY!!!!
It has been a beautiful Autumn day, gorgeous blue skies and quite warm too.
We went for a lovely walk as the weather was so good.
Now, let's get down to business! lol!!!
I have been really busy of late, and I've not been in the craft room very much.  I did manage to get a couple of cards made, one of which was for my good friend's 60th Birthday.
This is my very first box card, and I am really pleased with it.

I used this beauty from Mo Manning, her name is Veronica, and you can find here here

Now this image does resemble me somewhat, so I thought it was very apt to give to my friend.  I just added some bows, some bling and some "twisty bits" to finish it off.

I intend to make lots more box cards in the future, so watch this space! LOL!!!

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges.

Mo's DPT challenge #267 Anything Goes
Lil patch of Crafty Friends #43 Anything Goes
Crafting with Friends #28 - Anything Goes

That's all for now, take care and hopefully I'll see you soon! Bye!

Jessie

Hello again!  It is a gloriously sunny day here in Perthshire,
so I have been out in the garden.
I have  an ongoing battle with the weeds, and they
 seem to be winning! LOL!!

So - what is the date?  Ah yes! it is 15th August,
time for the new Let's Scrap sketch.

I must admit when I looked at this sketch, I thought
"What am I going to do with this?"
After considerable thought, and trawling through
numerous boxes of photographs,
this is what I came up with.

I found these gorgeous photos of wee Jessie, the Wilson's new baby!! LOL!!
I adore these photos of Dylan with her, just look at his wee face, he is loving her being there!
She has grown a bit now, and popped up to see me when we were last Skyping!
I hope this gives you some inspiration, and you try to do a layout based on the sketch.

Have fun, and see you soon

Freya 1st Girl Let's Scrap 8-15-16

Hello and welcome.  It's the middle of the school holidays here in Scotland, and the weather has not always been kind to us!  (No surprise there!)  My big news - I've lost 1 stone!!!!  Yes, 14 whole pounds have disappeared off my body.  Still trying to figure out where I have lost it from, but hey ho I'm happy!  Now have another stone to lose to get to the weight I want to be.  Doing it slowly, 1lb a week, and it is working.  I'm a happy bunny!

Here is the sketch for Let's Scrap for 1st August

and here is my layout.  Freya 1st Girl

Freya is our first Granddaughter, and we are delighted to have her in our family, especially as we have 4 Wonderful Grandsons..  I love doing her layouts, as I can go all sparkly and flowery and pretty! LOL!!  This layout shows some of her professional photos which were done when she was really tiny. I crocheted the little Minny Mouse outfit she is wearing in that photo.

Here is a wee close-up showing some of the details on the layout

I found a box of letters, which I had forgotten were there, and they were the same Brand and design as the papers , which I have had forever!

The wee flowers are from Prima, and they are really sparkly, but you can't see it in the photos.

here is the list of items used.

Cardstock and lettering - Bloom and Grow from  My Mind's Eye
Flowers - Prima
Ribbons, Buttons and Gems - from stash

Please leave some love, I like to see and ready your comments, no matter how short. xx

Strong

Hello and welcome to my little happy corner!  It is time to unveil the new sketch at Let's Scrap, and to announce some happy news from the recent Bloghop!!
!
.

I love using circles on my layouts, so  I really liked this sketch.  I have been tidying up my craft room, and I have found stuff which I forgot I had (sound familiar to anyone?) I found a spinner from Cosmo Cricket, and I thought it fitted in great with the photos I wanted to use.

Here is my layout.  I only used the right  side of the sketch.

Mu daughter and her husband have been doing some work in their garden, installing a pizza oven and a seating area.  Hadley and Dylan, were obviously trying to help!

I found these little metal corners and a grommet.  Such fun hammering that into place! lol!!

I also found some little tools.  Not quite the same tools as the boys are using, but I decided to use them anyway.

I had to use the Mr Strong embellishment to show how strong Dylan was!
I loved making this layout, and finding all the little bits to make it complete.

Now, onto the good news from the Blog Hop!  The winner of my RAK is.........................Alma Carter  Alma, and thank you for becoming my newest follower!  Please get in touch with me on my e-mail grannyrhoda@btinternet.com and I will get your prize posted on to you.
Thank you for everyone who entered the blog hop, it was a lot of fun!

3rd Birthday

Hello everyone. Well, unfortunately, it is raining here again!
There was a cloudburst last night, and it was incredible!  All the neighbours were up at their windows like us, just looking at the rain bouncing off the pavement and road.
Aye, we Scots can still amuse ourselves in the rain! lol!!

We celebrated Freya's 3rd Birthday last week, and this is the card I made for her.

This is an image from Lili of the Valley, and is one of their pre-printed cards.  I used an 8" x 8" scalloped white card, and covered with lilac floral paper. I glued round the edge of the image card and dipped it in some purple glitter.  I also put on the number 3 which is a peel off.

I added a strip of lace, a glitter rosette and 3 spiral flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts.

I stamped the sentiment with Warm Violet Chalk Ink, and used a corner punch to give extra detail.

This is a die which I think is from Tonic.  I love the effect it has.

I'm trying a mixed media project today, first time I have attempted this.  Once it is finished I will do a post on here to show it off, be it good or bad! lol!!

Bye for now, have a good Sunday everyone! xx

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges.

Here is the sketch we had to use

I think I spend more time looking for the photos for my layouts, than actually making the layouts!  I have thousands of photos, some in  albums, others just in boxes, so making a decision can be hard.

I found the ones I wanted, and here is my layout

Marie and Jackson, posing for the camera, and then getting silly!

I found these wee robots in my stash and added them to the layout, putting the 2nd one upside down, just like Jackson!

I even managed to find papers which were similar to Jackson's shirt,
so the layout came together quite easily.

Now, the next blog you need to visit is
Have fun with the rest of the hop!!!

Smile for the camera

Good Morning from a lovely, sunny Scotland.  Eric and I have somehow managed to bring the good weather back from our holiday in Cape Verdi.  We are just back from a 2 week holiday which was wonderful!

It is lovely to see the sunshine, but the weeds in the garden are about a foot high!  We are slogging away in the garden, trying to get it to look nice again.
Now, onto the reason for my blog post today.  It's 1st of June, so that means it is Let's Scrap time!

Here is the sketch that we used

This is the layout I created.  I am not happy with it though, so many things went wrong with it.  I used the wrong glue, my measurements were wrong and I wasted a load of card, and the layout isn't right, I lost a piece off an embellishment I wanted to use, the list goes on and on.  That's what happens when you rush things I guess.  I'm going to start the next sketch as soon as possible.

Well, I suppose I should go and get some more gardening done.  It's Wednesday, so that means we will have Jackson later, so won't get much done then.
Bye for now, and please leave a comment, good or bad, it makes me so happy.

Some Buddy to Love

Hello again!  It is a rather dull day in Bonnie Scotland right now.  We have had all sorts of weather and it is impossible to know what clothes to wear.  Scotland is the only place where you can get frostbite and sunburn on the same day.  It was actually snowing on Eric's Birthday 28th April.  Scary stuff. LOL!!

It's 1st of may, so that means a new sketch for http://www.letsscrapsketches.blogspot.co.uk/

I decided to only use the left side of the sketch

This shows Greg and Kim's wee dog Buddy, when he was just a puppy.
He was gorgeous then, and is gorgeous now.

Materials used
Papers - Bo Bunny
Sticker border - Bo Bunny

Buddy is best friends with Freya as you can see on this photo.

That's all for now folks, I need to go and do some housework - Boring!!!!!

Have fun, and thank you for stopping here for a wee look. xx

1929 Hat

Good Morning!
I hope the sun is shining where you are, as it has lost it's way to Scotland again!
Never mind, it is not too cold and that makes a difference.

Now, it is time to show you my Facebook Elite Design Team
inspiration on the Rick St Dennis Facebook page.

This is 1929 Hat by Rick, and she can be found here  1929 Hat
I would love to be able to wear hats, but I just look ridiculous in them.  I just don't have the face for it! LOL!! This lady, however, is beautiful.    I coloured her hat in my favourite colour, blue, and added a couple of purple feathers, along with the blue.  I tried a wee bit of sponging with pan pastels for the purple/pink background as a contrast.  I added the flowers, but they are not an exact match unfortunately. I added the little pearls to her hat and stole to finish.
I hope you like my bit of inspiration, and you hop on over
to Zibbett, or Etsy to see some more of Rick's lovely images.

I would like to put this card in the following challenges.

Friends

Hello Everyone!  Happy April Fools' Day! Did anyone catch you out?  My husband manages to trick me every year, but this year I was ready for him!!  Poor thing looked quite sad when I rumbled his trick!  Bless him.

It's a horrible day here, what we call 'Dreich'  in Scotland.  The word sums the day up perfectly.  Cold, grey and wet.

Never mind, it means more crafting can get done.

Here is the sketch from Let's Scrap for 1st April

I just used the right hand side of the sketch for this one, and this is what I came up with.

I used more photos which were taken by Ruth Trotter, on the day we took Jackson to the bluebell woods.  Of course, Mum Ted had to come too.  I adore these photos of Jackson and his very best pal in the whole wide world!  I suppose we can tease him with these photos when he is older. LOL!!

I used the following craft supplies:-

Cardstock - Bazzill Basics
Papers - My Little Yellow Bicycle
Borders - K & Co.
Title - K & Co.

That's all for now, I am going to make some cards before my babysitting duties start again.

Take care and hope you can leave some love, it would make my day xxx

The lovely Lavish

Hello everyone!  It is a lovely sunny day here, 2 loads of washing out, house cleaned, Eric has been weeding garden, and I lost another 2lbs in weight!  All in all it is a pretty good day.  My  total weight loss is 8lbs now, so I am really chuffed with that.

Anyhoo, time  to get on to the important stuff.

This is the latest card I have made for the Rick St Dennis Elite Design Team
This lovely lady is Lavish and you can find her on Zibbett on that link.
She does have sparkly bits all over her dress,
but they don't show up very well in the photo.

I want to enter her in the following challenges:-

Wander

Hello again!  It's a very gloomy day here, so it is perfect for shutting myself in my craft room and doing some crafting!  I need to show you my DT layout for Let's Scrap.  Here is the sketch you need to use.

I must confess, the diamonds had me stumped, I wasn't sure what to use for that part of the sketch.  I then found a sheet of green card, which had diamonds all over it.  It is Bazzill card, and I can't even remember buying it! oops!! Confession time lol!

I used very recent  photographs showing the twins on holiday in January of this year.  They all went for a camping trip up to Hot Water Beach in New Zealand.  Corinne took the most amazing photos, and I just had to scrap them.  Look out for more layouts using some of the rest!

I used Blue Bazzill for the background.
Papers- Complete Boy My Mind's Eye
Green Diamond Card - Bazzill
Chipboard embellishments - Bo Bunny
Title - K & Co
Buttons from stash

Before I go, I just have to show you this one.  Harrison thought
the best part of his holiday was eating Smores beside the camp fire!   Yum!

Just look at his face!  Bliss! LOL!

I'll leave you on that happy note, lovely to see you here, and please
leave me a wee message, it really makes my day. xx

With Love

This will be a short post today.  I needed to get up in the middle of the night to go to the loo, and I
could hardly get out of bed as my back was so sore.   It has happened several times before,
something to do with squashed discs at the bottom of my spine.
So I am sitting here with hot water bottle at my lower back.
Still in my jammies, as i can't move around to get my clothes on or off.
So here we go
This is my inspiration card on the  Rick St Dennis digi fans and friends facebook page

Here is a wee close up for you.

This lovely image is called The Snow Queen.  You can find her on this Link here
I decided to steer away from Icy, Snowy colours, and I made her in green shades to welcome the Spring.
I used a die from tonic which I think is really beautiful and I think I will use it a lot.

I would like to emter this card in the following challenges:

Allsorts Challenge Blog #353 All Feminine
Creative Craft Cottage   #59 Let's get Sentimental
That's all for now, off to get more painkillers.

Let's Scrap 1st March 2016

Hello again.  Woke up this morning to see snow on the ground.  It was a bit of a surprise!  Interesting though, as I am taking a photograph of my garden on the first of every month, with the intention of doing something "scrappy" with them. Forgot to do it yesterday, but remembered today.
Anyway, I digress--  It is time to show the layout for Let's Scrap Sketches  for 1st March.
(or the 2nd in my case lol!!)

First the good news, I am still on the Design Team of Let's Scrap for a further 6 months - yee ha!!

Now to show you the sketch and the layout I made.

I only used the left hand side of the sketch.  I used some old photos form when Corinne was 5 and Marie was about 6 months.  This was when Marie was in plaster for her dislocated hips.  The photos are not good quality at all, but that's what happened in the good old days, you took a photo, and it was hit or miss if it was a good one!

I love Marie's chubby cheeks, but she hates them!  Poor Corinne,
Marie had obviously had enough and was trying to get away!
If you lift the heart on the bottom photo, it lifts up and I am going to put some
personal journalling in there.

I used papers from Little Yellow Bicycle called Love Letters
The title and wooden birds were from The Works (bargain at £1)
I used a tonic die to cut the square shapes.

That's all for now, thank you for stopping by!
See you soon !

Steampunk Sally

Hello again!   It is a cold miserable day here in my little corner of the world.  However, we have, up until today,  had 4 glorious days, when the sun shone all day.  It was so uplifting to see beautiful blue skies for a change.

Today I am showing my Elite Design Team inspiration piece for Rick St Dennis on Facebook

This is Steampunk Sally and you can find her here on Zibbett
I love Rick's Steampunk images, and she is a very striking lady I think.
I tried to explain Steampunk to my friend Jane, and she just looked at me blankly
and said "right" very slowly.  She just didn't understand!
Never mind, I know my 'arty' friends know what it is. LOL!
I  have started a diet to lose weight.  I have signed up with Scottish Slimmers, and I have lost 5lbs over 2 weeks.  I am really pleased with that, as I am eating normal things and I do not feel deprived in the slightest.  My target is to lost 2 stone, so wish me luck.  I'll keep you updated.
Okay, time for more colouring I think.
Please leave a little message if you have been for a visit, it really makes my day xx

Running Kim

Hello again!

It is a beautiful sunny day in my little corner of the world, I hope it is the same wherever you are!

I want to show you a card which I made for my daughter-in-law Kim for her birthday last year.  She was running a 6K race for a cancer charity around the same time, so I thought this card was very apt.

I made a slider  card, to show Kim "running" across the card.

Here she is at the start of her race.

Here she is halfway across.

and here she is almost finished.
it is such a fun card to make, and I will definitely make another one like this.

This super wee image is from Mo Manning

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges.

Crafting from the Heart  #100 Anything Goes

I have used pink for my blog this time, as Kim was running for
Breast Cancer, who use pink on their logo and in their fund raising.

Rick St Dennis February Challenge

Hello and welcome to my little crafting world.

We have changed our challenge format from the Progressive Challenge on Rick St Dennis Sparkle and Glitter blog,
to a monthly Facebook Challenge on Rick St. Dennis' Fans & Friends Facebook group.
We will be following a monthly theme and your entries will be posted to an album on our Facebook group.
Our very first theme running from February 1 until the end of the month,
February 29 is Hearts and/or Arrows.
For this challenge, which must feature a Rick St. Dennis image.
We want to see a heart(s or an arrow(s) or both somewhere on your project,
either in the image or in the background...or maybe it's the shape.

Have fun with it! There are many, many images in both Rick's Zibbet and Etsy shops which would fit the theme.
Here is my card, which I actully gave to my husband for Valentine's Day.

At first glance, this may not look like a Valentine card, but you see I have a very sweet tooth, and I love puddings.  So, I really don't like sharing with my hubby! Therefore I said that my heart belonged to him, but when you look inside the card it says..................

Luckily he found it very amusing!
So, to follow the theme of hearts and/or arrows:  the background paper has cherubs
with bow and arrows, there is a wee heart on the front, and there is the word heart too!

Here is what you could win if you entered:
We are using a sliding scale for prizes based upon the number of entries
1 to 3 entries: Winner chosen by Random.org Prize: one digi

4 to 10 entries: One winner chosen by EDT Prize: one image & badge

Now it is over to you, why don't you do a card and show it to us?

Bye for now,and please leave a wee message if you stop here.
 Have a good weekend!xxxx

Take me back

It's sketch time over on the Let's Scrap website,so it is time for a challenge.

Here is the sketch you need to use to create your layout.  If you look over at the Let's Scrap Blogspot
you can find details of the prize you could win from the Scrapbook Circle.

I used more photos from our holiday in Barcelona.  We went to LaPedrera, which was the most amazing building.  It was built as a house, to impress everyone, and boy it must have managed to do that.

On the roof, there was a walkway right round, where you could see the fantastic chimneys.  Wonderful sculptures each and every one.

I managed to incorporate the leaflet which I picked up, tucking it in a wee pocket.

I also used one of our tickets.  It was a lovely place, and the staff were absolutely wonderful.  Helping me to the lift on every floor.  The lifts were a bit strange.  You had to go right up to the top, and then come back down one floor at a time.
I have a ton of other photos from Barcelona, so watch this space!!
Thank you for having a wee look at my blog, i wouldlove it if you could leave a message to let me know you have been here. xx
